Veleta Ruth Todd

Veleta Ruth (Brinson) Todd of Smyrna, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. She was at her home surrounded by family. Veleta was born in Citra, Florida, to Calvin and Ora Brinson along with five siblings on January 19, 1929. She is survived by her son, Gary Todd (Teresa) of Chapin, SC; daughter, Lori Donovan (Robert) of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Shirley Myers of Statesville, NC; grandchildren Cheryl Todd, Rachel Barkley, Josh Todd, Sarah Todd, Erin Coleman, and Alan Rhoades; great-grandchildren Raymond Barkley, Max Coleman, and Gabby Coleman; and great-great grandchildren, Nolan Barkley and Dallas Barkley. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Ronald Todd. She is also survived by her beloved friend and companion, James Hughes of Smyrna, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at Smyrna Christian Church, 910 Concord Road, Smyrna, Georgia, on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. Veleta loved going to church, even when she was in poor health, children of all ages, and reading. Veleta had a gift with words and even wrote three novels and two cookbooks. She adored her family and her fellow residents at Benson Manor. She will be sorely missed by many.
