Atlanta native Susan Holton was born October 6, 1948, and passed away April 7, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her mother, Doris S. Holton; her brother and sister-in-law Hayes and Linda Holton; her beloved nieces, Lauren Holton, and Elizabeth Holton Holland and her husband Josh. Her father, H. H. Holton, preceded her in death. Susan also leaves behind a cast of friends, far too many to mention, who loved her dearly. She was a devoted daughter, loving sister and aunt, a true friend and a Christian. She will be remembered for her incredible strength and perseverance, her selfless spirit, and her never-ending devotion to her family and friends. The world is a duller and sadder place without her. A citizen of the world, Susan traveled to more countries than we can count. She knew every locale, the best restaurants and the finest places to shop, all of which she gladly shared. For Susan, there was no place like home, but New York and the Florida beaches topped her favorite places to be with friends. She was a gift giver of grand proportion, who was always thoughtful in her choices. Susan graduated from Georgia State University and Headland High School. She spent her entire 40-year career in the travel industry, working most recently for SITA, and earlier for SystemOne Corp. and Eastern Airlines. From each, she leaves behind friends who loved and adored her. Services will be held on Thursday, April 11, at 11:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, 1795 Johnson Ferry Road, in Marietta, GA. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the church. Susan had an unparalleled love for animals. In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be sent to the Good Mews Animal Foundation, 736 Johnson Ferry Road, Suite A3, Marietta, GA 30068 and via the website at www.goodmews.org.
