Sandra Brownell, 70, of Sandy Springs, GA, died December 14, 2015. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Brownell of North Hollywood, CA and Linda Ingebrand of Tucson, AZ, as well as nieces and nephews Amanda O'Keefe, Matthew Thompson, Emily Thompson and Stephanie Ingebrand, and 7 great nieces and nephews.
Sandra had a zest for life and laughter, was an avid reader and a published poet. She was a collector of books and crystal but mostly enjoyed giving her treasures away. Sandra made contributions to many charities and a devoted her life to her church, most recently the Church of the Apostles in Atlanta. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and devoted most of her adult life to children, mentoring them, often taking them to Sunday school and then out to lunch after church. She also tutored boys after school at Eagle Ranch in Flowery Branch, GA. To neighbor children, she was known as the lady with popsicles, which she happily shared with a ready smile and a story about her life.
Sandra attended classes at Princeton University where, with sister Linda, she helped found a Christian coffee house on campus. She studied Fencing, a sport she excelled in. Professionally, Sandra worked as an administrative assistant at Mathematica and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in the Princeton area. Most of her career was devoted to various administrative positions at the Coca Cola Corporation in Atlanta, where she made many long time friends.
Sisters Barbara and Linda want to especially thank Pluria Howell, April Radkte, Ann Kieffer, and Zulma and Zelema Garcia and family for the love and friendship they shared with Sandy. Dear friends Beverly Westmoreland, Alice Nelson, Lisa Ware, and Joan Shumaker blessed Sandy with their presence at her bedside in her final hours.
Sweet Sandy will be remembered fondly by all those whose lives she touched with her kindness and compassion.
