Mark Edwin Sims

d. August 10, 2020

Mark Edwin Sims 57 of Waco passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Donna Sims, his stepchildren Michael Warner, Keith Chapman and Laura Chapman, his grandchildren, Jennifer Prewett, Ashley Hall, Heather Mayfield, Garrett Chapman, Beth Chapman, 7 great grandchildren, his sister, Kathleen, brothers, Garry and Steve Sims, and many other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Gerald Edwin Sims and Judy Louise Sims.

Mark was a self-educated man and could speak on many subjects. His books were his prized possessions. He also loved plants and, after working as a garden shop manager at an Ace Hardware for just 2 years, he had learned the Latin names of every plant that came through his department. He went on to never stop learning about plants. He became a master roofer and builder and he and his stepson built the home that he and his wife and family have lived in for 21 years. He worked for those 20 years in funeral grave service and was forced into retirement after losing all of his toes to frostbite in the course of his job. But he persevered and never stopped doing whatever he could for others. One of his greatest pleasures was opening the doors and listening to the bird song every morning and then sitting at night to ponder the night sky. Mark never met a person he didn't like. He saw only the best in everyone and loved unconditionally.

Mark died at home from the effects of his injuries. He was loving

and giving up to his very last hours on Earth. He is touring the Universe.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
