John Bond Maynard (Johnny), of Bowdon Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2019. He is survived by his long time love & partner, Doris Maynard, his two daughters, Kimberly Skouras and Lynn Maynard Hembree as well as his niece Sherri Wilson and his three grandchildren, Jacob Alexander Maynard, Abigail Evelyn Skouras and Danielle Lane Hembree. He is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Lucille Bond Maynard, his father James Julian Maynard and his brother Julian Maynard. He was constantly referred to as the life of the party with his larger than life voice, jokes and stories. During his life, he was an honored and proud soldier of the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam war and was stationed in Germany at that time. He went on to build a career as a distribution manager for Devilbiss Company, Miller Zell and In Store Media, in Atlanta. He loved music and was an organist and pianist throughout his life. He served as the pianist at his church, Waco United Methodist Church, where he and Doris attended. His favorite hymn to play on the organ was "Amazing Grace." He absolutely loved the military and his opportunity to serve his country. He was a member of the VFW and The American Legion. A special thank you to the staff at Tanner Medical Center ICU for their loving care and support during his final days. A memorial service will be held on June 1, 2019 at 11:00 am located at Waco United Methodist Church, 155 Carrollton Street, Waco, GA 30182.
