John Nevius Voorhees Iii

John Nevius Voorhees III 74, of Hiram died January 7 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital. John was a high school math teacher and retired after 35 years from the Shawnee Mission School District in Kansas. He loved coaching football and track as well as assistant coaching basketball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and John Voorhees, Jr; his daughters, Janet Voorhees and Jill Killian; and a grandson, Sean Killian.

J.N. is survived by his wife, Jackie Voorhees; daughter and son-in-law Julie and Brad Ellingson; 3 grandchildren, Nathan, Samantha and Andrew Ellingson; and 3 sisters Gloria (N.C) Thomas, Nancy (Paul) Muegge, and Susan Voorhees.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14th at McEachern United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Tillman officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or The National Kidney Foundation.
