Jacqueline W. "Jill" Ray, age 73, passed away peacefully May 6, 2020, at her home due to ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). She was born March 2, 1947, in Independence, Kansas, to C. Jack Williams and Ruth Ellen Peebles. She met Gene Ray when they were college students in Kansas City and they married May 17, 1969, at Brookhaven Christian Church in Atlanta. They remained life-long residents of Atlanta.
For the majority of her life, Jill was a devoted wife and mother. She was very active in churches they belonged to, teaching various Bible study courses and baking cookies for the staff and Wednesday Night Dinners. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, cooking and was very well traveled. She especially enjoyed the north Georgia mountains and Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, daughter Catherine Corinne "Cori" Ray, sister Susan and husband Van, niece Kim and husband Eddy and their three children, Grace, Parker and Grant, all of Roswell, Georgia, nephew Matt and wife Rosie and their daughter Petya, of Denver, Colorado.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Johns Creek United Methodist Church, in Johns Creek, Georgia. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her memory to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
