James Walter (Walt) Hudgins, Sr.

James Walter (Walt) Hudgins, Sr. was called to heaven on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 8:30p.m. from his home in Snellville, GA with his loving wife of 31 years by his side. James (Walt) was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 5, 1940, to Dora L. Collins and James L. Hudgins.  He was the oldest of three children.  He is preceded in death by his parents Dora L. Hudgins and James L. Hudgins, two sisters, Dorothy Hood, and Vicki Vinson.

James (Walt) graduated from Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia and became a truck driver for Food Giant, Inc. for 25 years.  He then continued his career another 25 years working in the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Warehouse as a contractor.   James (Walt) loved watching all sporting events and was an avid Atlanta Falcons Fan (after all…. he was born and raised in the ATL.  He enjoyed playing baseball, but his favorite hobby was bowling.

James (Walt) leaves to cherish his loving wife Jean, five children:  Quinton Coleman; Monica Hudgins-Hand, Michelle (Steven) Bazemore, Melissa Hudgins, Marsha (Curtis) Hill and James, Jr. (Phyllis) Hudgins; five sisters-in-laws:  Earline Corley, Rita Burke, and Belinda Horton all of Nashville, TN.  Yvonne Leslie of Birmingham, AL, and Juanita Harvell of South Bend, IN. Eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, Special Cousin Jonette Simmons, God Sister Leona Mosby, two God daughters, Connie Brown, and Dr. Patrice Mitchell, two God Sons, Jermaine McBryde and Will Kitchens, a special granddaughter, Chloe Collins, Caregiver and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family of James (Walt) Hudgins appreciate your concern and support and want to thank you for your prayers and every act of kindness shown during this difficult time.  The family also wants to recognize and sends a special thank you to Bristol Hospice - Georgia for the wonderful care given to our beloved James (Walt) during his final days.
