Jacqueline yvonne Roan, age 79 of Douglasville, formerly of Orange, NJ died Friday, January 18, 2013. She was born on May 10, 1933 to the late Rueben R. Webb and Maude V. Wade Webb in Bryn Mawr, PA.
She is survived by her son, Arthur B. Roan Jr. of Odenton, MD; daughters, Benita J. Roan (Salimah Ali) of New York, Colette Y. Muhammad (Angelo Omar Muhammad) of Douglasville; grandchildren, Malcolm Raon and wife Brittany Roan, Asia Muhammad, Omar Muhammad; great grandson, Elijah Roan.
Having gone through the Pennsylvania Public School system, she graduated from Dunbar High School in 1951 and went on to Wilberforce University.
In 1954, she married Arthur Benjamin Roan and to this union, her three children were born.
Jacqueline had a remarkable career in that she worked for the United State Air Force; Westinghouse, NJ Bell (she was in fact one of the first African American Telephone operators); Eastern Airlines of which she retired in 1988 and went on to work with Prudential Financial from 1990-1994.
