Dawn Knighton

Dawn Knighton, age 74, of Austell, GA entered eternity on June 28, 2024. Dawn was born in Atlanta, GA in 1949. She grew up and spent many of her young adult years in the San Francisco Bay area. She also lived in Carey, NC and Alexandria, VA before settling with her children in Austell, GA. She retired from the healthcare industry after working as a pediatrics manager for many years. She worshipped and served faithfully at Corner Springs Church (formerly Marietta Alliance Church) for over 30 years.

Dawn loved God, her family, her friends, and coffee. She described herself for many years as having “the gift of glitz” where she had to make sure that her testimony of what the Lord was doing outshone her accessories. She practiced the gift of hospitality every day. She loved hosting family and friends, and she absolutely loved baking and cooking. She believed that meeting peoples’ needs with gifts of food nourished body, heart, mind, and spirit; she sought to practice this intently and blessed hundreds - if not thousands - with her famous cream cheese pound cakes and cookies. She loved to laugh. She loved to sing and listen to music. Dawn had a heart for overseas missions. She was a faithful prayer warrior. She would pray privately, but also delighted in praying publicly with and for everyone from waiters, to coworkers, to friends she just met. Her life proclaimed Jesus Christ.

Dawn is survived by her two children: Jason (Angel) Lee and Sarah (Rev. Aaron) Prosser; six grandchildren: Carla, Elizabeth, Darian, Samuel, Eleanor, and Edmund. She also has many family by choice granddaughters and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Corner Springs Church, 1787 E Piedmont Rd, Marietta, GA on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
