Dorothy Edwards

Mrs. Dorothy Jean Rosa Olivia Edwards, daughter of the late Elder and Georgia Ward, was born February 15, 1925, in Eatonton, Georgia. Dorothy was the fourth child of four siblings. She also had a step-mother, Sophie Ward, and three step-sisters.

After moving to Atlanta, Dorothy met and married Ralph Edwards in 1951, and together they had five children. In 1957, Dorothy started studying the Bible with Callie Owens and in 1961, she symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God at Yankee Stadium, thereby starting a rich spiritual heritage for her family. In over 50 years of service, she took every opportunity to preach and teach and help ones come to an accurate knowledge about Jehovah God and his son, Jesus Christ. Down to the last months of her life, Dorothy was a zealous preacher of the good news, even going from door to door in her wheelchair. She was truly proud to be one of Jehovah's Witness and she believed in the promises that the Bible offers concerning the hope of everlasting life.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling and visited many places including Hawaii, Canada, Niagara Falls, and many of the states. Ever up for new experiences, at 91, she took her first cruise to the Bahamas in 2016 and loved it!

Dorothy was known for her sweet and calm demeanor. People naturally gravitated towards her and they always remembered her smile. She was a pillar in the congregation, the family matriarch, and she will surely be missed and will forever be in our hearts. We look forward to seeing her again in the coming paradise.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband, Ralph Edwards, son, John Edwards, and her grandson, Kenneth Blessitt.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories: Four children, Linda G. Blessitt (recently deceased), Ralph D. Edwards (Debbie), Anita F. Brown (Steven), and Ricky L. Edwards; twelve Ralph D. Edwards (Debbie), Anita F. Brown (Steven), and Ricky L. Edwards; twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
